Lenny's amazing world war 2 wallet!

Lenny and his Mum found a real treasure last weekend. A wallet owned by an old relative who went to Egypt during the second world war. New Zealand soldiers trained and fought in Egypt during the war. It is in amazing condition and had wonderful pictures on it! Thanks for sharing Lenny!

We made our own treaties!

We had a fun time today agreeing on some treaties to make things fairer in Karearea. We chose three problems that we needed to sort out, agreed on some rules and then signed them, just like the English and Maori chiefs back in 1840.

WAITANGI DAY

Today we learned about Waitangi Day and why we had a holiday yesterday. We talked in simpler terms about Maori coming to Aotearoa/New Zealand, and pretended our junior playground was New Zealand.
We learned what happened when the Treaty was signed a long time ago and the troubles afterwards. We finished our session by showing how happy we are to live in such an AWESOME COUNTRY!!!

Welcome to KAREAREA!

It was great to see so many happy and enthusiastic little kids arrive this morning. Lovely to meet some of you for the first time and catch up with others. A big welcome to Lenny Hicks, on his first day at Clyde School!
We had lots of fun our first day, and there were some tired campers at the end of it (including me!)
The kids recreating dragons and unicorns using our imagination playground equipment! We hope you enjoy the pics! Click on the pics to enlarge the images.
